Run by designer Moumita Dey, this eponymous boutique at Park Centre in Park Street, is a haven for handloom saris. With a variety of styles, ranging from handloom and matka to kantha and tussar, this store needs to be on your radar for your next sari shopping excursion.
While saris are known to up your glam quotient, donning one in summer is an ordeal. These cotton handloom saris from Moumita are not only light and comfortable but super stylish and suitable for any occasion. Their collection includes Bengal handlooms, primarily made of khadi, cotton and linen, handmade at their own factory in Bardhaman. From saris in light pastel shades to the ones in bright hues with floral motifs and hand-printed designs, their collection is definitely worth a dekko. Some handloom saris also come with colourful tassels and we learnt these are in high demand. The saris start from INR 600 and go up to INR 5000.
They also store readymade blouses and blouse pieces in varied designs, ranging from kantha stitch, hand-painted to offbeat embroidered and shimmery ones. These range between INR 1,000 - INR 1,200. We also came across handloom dupattas and stoles, starting INR 2,000, that can definitely amp up any pale salwar suit.
