What's Happening

The Murshidabad Heritage Festival is all set to happen on February 16, 17 and 18. Organised by the Murshidabad Heritage Development Society, the event promises to be a lovely experience and a feast for the senses, both visually and aesthetically. The cultural part of the festival will be held in the backdrop of one of the most exceptional palaces in eastern India – the recently restored Kathgola Palace in Lalbagh. Guests will also experience the restored Bara Kothi at Azimganj in a walk which will showcase the re-use of heritage monuments.

Apart from heritage and culture, the river flowing by will be put to good use with boat races and a colourful kayaking display for some sporting fun.

Heritage walks, visits to museums such as Jiaganj and Hazarduari, a craft bazaar, a tour of Tanti Para  or weavers' locality, and temple tours will add to the charm. Evenings will be filled with folklore, and folk dances like chhau (as well as Odissi), and the famous Murshidabad fireworks. Expect top-notch royal vegetarian food from Sheherwali Gourmet Cuisine.

This festival aims to attract tourists, students, romantics, heritage enthusiasts, investors, and travel and tour agents.
