What's Happening

Not that winter is too bleak in our side of the country, but spring has added a fresh lease of energy to our lives. Temperate Basanta is our favourite time, and this weekend we are making the most of it with some travel, cultural programmes, interesting talks, and the never-to-be-missed shopping. The Nabanna Earth Weekend festival is kicking off  at Santinietan this Saturday and we have a legit reason for a short trip.

A two-day cultural fest, this one is jam packed with events, exhibitions and shows. Over 200 artisans from around the country will display and sell their handcrafted items at this crafts fair. Art connoisseurs, check out the workshop that INTACH will conduct on conservation and restoration of Bengal Patachitra. Cultural performances like tribal dance and music, and performances on the Bard's (Tagore, of course) plays and songs will be a major highlight that we don't want to miss.

For something more cerebral reserve your afternoons and early evenings for talks and conversations with personas like Kunal Basu, Jawahar Sircar, Jael Silliman, Sudeep Chakravarty and others.

How's The Venue

The two-day festival will be held in the Geetanjali Cultural Complex in Santiniketan. Don't get lost looking for the Geetanjali Cultural Complex - it is inside the university campus. It's further away from the campus.

Make A Note

The cultural programme festival will go on for the two days of the coming weekend, but the crafts fair will be there till March 25.
