Park Street's Christmas Carnival will be gone way too soon. The rest of the holiday week is left and we're still craving some outdoorsy winter fun. The city's most iconic heritage shopping stop, New Market, is keeping the holiday vibe going with a winter carnival.
Text your buds and chalk up the plans right now because there's going to be food, music, shopping, theatre, dance and a whole lot more. Spread around the parking lot of Simpark Mall, there'll be food and shopping stalls and live performances to keep the mood lit. Home decor to lifestyle products, jewellery, gardening accessories and kitschy bric-a-brac - several small Kolkata-based brands will be putting up stalls here. Gorge on delicious cakes, tarts, pies, chocolates and other baked goodies at the food stalls here. Winter in Kolkata without pithe-puli is incomplete. Dig into a variety of pithe-puli (patishapta to dudh puli) at Poush Parbon's stall.
The evening scene includes live music with popular singers and local indie bands. This aside, there'll also be talks on little theatre and plays to make for a really fab cultural fest!
