New Places To Visit
Bomti's Art-Filled Dinner Parties
Attend one of Surajit 'Bomti' Iyengar's exclusive dinner parties for a distinctive gastronomic and cultural experience. Home-cooked Bengali food, an amazing collection of art and antiques, and an intimate look into Kolkata's aristocratic past are all features of these events, which are held in his historic home in the Metropolitan Building. Entering Bomti Iyengar's flat is like travelling to another planet. This large, high-ceilinged 1901 mansion is filled with antiques and artwork. Vibrant masks from around the globe are displayed on the wall, and the living room opens onto a sizable veranda with views of the Eden Gardens and Shahid Minar. Having worked for him for 21 years, his chef received training from Iyengar's mother in all of the family dishes. The meals are completely customised, and Iyengar only creates the menu after considering the dietary requirements of the guests. To make you feel totally at home while travelling, he will also stock up on your preferred brand of booze.

Jamini Roy Residence
The family stayed here until December 1949, when they relocated to Ballygunge Place East, where they currently reside. Nestled in a peaceful lane in Ballygunge Place, this three-story home boasts art deco elements, green slatted windows, and a staircase that leads from the front door to the upper level. A significant portion of Rajya Charu Kala Parshad's collection consists of paintings by Jamini Roy. The home is now an art gallery after the Kolkata Municipal Corporation's heritage protection committee approved Delhi Art Gallery's purchase of it.
