Now You Can Go Water Skiing On The Hooghly Thanks To The Kolkata Police

Shortcut

Starting today, you can queue up at Babughat for a water skiing session in the majestic shadow of the Howrah Bridge and Vidyasagar Setu. The best part? It’s free.

What Is It?

Expect the riverfront along Hoogly to turn into a hub of water sports on weekends, all thanks to a community initiative by the Kolkata Police. They’ll be organising events like water skiing and boat rides to popularise the Babughat riverfront. Life jackets and life guards will be on site, and there will be boats patrolling the river in case of any mishaps.

Anything Else?

To begin with, the area along the Babughat-Kadamtala stretch has been chosen. If you are interested, you can book a session by filling up the form here.

#LBBTip

Do be careful — the Hooghly can get quite choppy sometimes. And since it is free, expect crowds. We suggest you do not take any small children or older people along.
