What Makes It Awesome

Plush and swishy, but without any of the in-your-face gaudiness, Octa is the newest addition to the starry lineup of Park Street’s all-day bar and dining spaces. Located inside the Myx building and coming from the same brand as Hammer (where OTT used to be, remember?), Octa is where you can head to for all your inebriated escapades, fun nightouts and fancy family dinners.

The 4000 sq ft space is divided into two swanky levels (with a huge main bar and a small semi private area), that can easily transition from a fine dining space during the day to a contemporary hangout by night. The interiors are not exactly minimalistic but what I really liked about the place was the sophisticated interplay of textures, colours (mostly grey with pops of industrial yellow) and lights. The decor (designed by artist Swarup Dutta) is very industrial chic and artistic. The mezzanine floor will bedazzle you with rows of copper pendant lights and an open kitchen with gorgeous copper cookware hung on a railing in all its sculptural splendour.

If that’s enough of eye candy, it’s now time to tickle your taste buds a little. Curated by the famous chef Shaun Kenworthy, the menu here is full of Asian flavours that lean towards the spicier side. We started off with the soup and salad combo of Truffle Miso Soup and Japanese Caeser Salad (Romain lettuce, crispy tofu, cherry tomatoes, miso dressing, crisp nori). Followed by Octa Style Sushi, which is essentially a crispy vegetable roll made of avocado, beetroot and crackling spinach. Yum! You must try the Asian small plates here. Steamed Bao Buns and Steamed Dumplings are absolute star dishes, so flavourful that it leaves a rich aftertaste. The banana leaf wrapped Sambal Bekti was divine! Tangy, succulent and mildly herbed. Dessert was the Matcha Tiramisu Doriyaki that combined taste of Mascarpone, Lotus Biscoff and berries. Just what I needed to finish off the meal in style.

Pro Tip

Their signature cocktails too are unmissable. Try the Octa Times - a mix of warmth of cinnamon infused whiskey with banana syrup. Or the Peking Punch - rum with the twist of gingerbread. For the lovers of gin & tonic, there's Rosemary In Rangoon.
