Pujo in Kolkata is like a half-baked lasagna if you don't get to see the alok shojja (we are talking about the decorations with lights!). Head to these pandals this year for a dazzling experience.

Maddox Square

This is the first pandal we can think of because, if Maddox Square is famous for anything apart from their traditional pandal and idol, it is their light decoration. The entire Ritchie Road Stretch is dolled up with rice lights tied from end to end in a continuous line. We are already singing in our heads: Light will guide you home!

Singhi Park

Singhi Park in Dover Lane is one of the most popular names when it comes to south Kolkata pujos. When it comes to this pandal, people flock to see the huge larger-than-life light installations depicting everyday chores of regular people. Want to hear something crazy? This one time, they used Shikhar paan masala in their lighting!

Baghbazar Sarbojanin

Baghbazar sticks to the traditional, even when it comes to lighting. You will find pretty board lights used to depict various concepts. And these include a giant demon installation, a racing bike in motion and even Eiffel Tower! The best part is, each light installation tells a different story, some of them even depicting various structures and landscapes.

Sreebhumi

Sreebhumi is known for their extravagance when it comes to the lighting. The decorations start half a kilometre away from the main structure and lead all the way to the pandal. We are talking about giant boards in the shape of boats, colossal gate lights and even animal figures! Don't be surprised if you find installations shaped like a dinosaur!

FD Block

FD Block in Salt Lake occupies a huge space and have ample space to install lighting. The fact that it is organised inside a park, gives them the area to play around with the decorations. FD Block is quite known for their giant gate lights and marquee lights in white and blue. If you are able to tackle the mad rush, then this pandal is definitely worth a visit.
