Shantiniketan Mud Villa
Located in Tagore’s university town, this air-conditioned villa has two mud houses with traditional art on them, and can accommodate around 10 people. The villa overlooks a pond and a garden, so your pet will not miss out on their playtime with you. They also have an in-house cook — if you need anything special, they’ll be happy to make it for you. Breakfast is complimentary but you have to pay the cook for other meals. This homestay is located 2km away from the university, 1.4 km from Tagore’s house and 300 meters away from the forest. Rare Earth, Farms and Homestay
This quiet, idyllic place is located beside a Santal village a short distance from Shantiniketan. The cottages here are made of indigenous materials and can accommodate eight people in four rooms on twin sharing basis, all with attached clean, hygienically maintained toilets. There is electricity, running hot and cold water, coffee/tea maker in rooms but intentionally no television. There are a few cycles to roam around the tribal village, angling rod for fishing, and binoculars for bird watching.
Munia, The Charming Cottage
This homestay can accommodate one family of four people. They have a lush garden, air-conditioned rooms with period furniture and kitchen. Breakfast is complimentary and other home-cooked meals come at an added cost. Pets are welcome but you need to discuss it with them prior to your arrival. It is located very close to Amar Kutir, a well-known handicraft co-operative. They have a well-stocked library {both English and Bengali} if you want to spend the day reading at your leisure. They also offer complimentary drop and pick up on arrival and departure from Prantik station and from Kolkata.
The Red House
Located in Bolpur, this quaint red bungalow with two rooms, three bathrooms, an outhouse and seven big and small terraces is the ideal stay for big groups, couples and pets alike. They also have a large garden with an organic patch beside it- perfect for your furry friend to go out and explore! They also have a housekeeper to help you or show you around. It's about 5-7 minutes from the heart of Shantiniketan and 20 mins from the railway station.
