Piyali Island is considered to be one of the most beautiful gateways to the Sunderbans, just about 70.4 km from the city of Kolkata. It is a small island surrounded by two rivers —Piyali and Matla. To reach the island, you have to cross a small bridge above the Piyali River. For those who want to spend a night here, there is only one tourist lodge available on this island, known as The Piyali Tourist Lodge. It is very well manufactured and maintained for tourists.
Best Time To Visit: The ideal time to visit Piyali Island is between the colder months of November and February. During this period, you'll find the weather to be pleasant, with barely any rainfall. It's perfect for wildlife spotting and exploring the dense mangroves.
How To Reach: The most ideal way to travel is by car, crossing the Baruipur Railway gate and turning right on the road leading to Gochoron crossing. Then head to Barasat crossing and turn left towards Mohishmari crossing. If you are taking the train route, get down at the south Barasat station, where you can find shared trekkers that will take you to Piyali Island.
