How badly were you looking for chikankari wear to give a boost to your wardrobe? Worry not because we've found out five stores from where you can get quality chikan work.

Label SUOM

Set up in April 2019, SUOM by Sunita Choudhary specialises in handloom fabrics such as Lucknowi chikankari, banarasi and handblock print sarees from Rajasthan.  You need to check out her georgette and chikan collection. We came across a dreamy pure white georgette lehenga, priced at INR 35,000, that will make you look no less than a Bolly leading lady.

Locals prefer this shop for its small but affordable range of clothes. The store is nothing fancy but stocks various ethnic and Indo-western wear. You can choose to buy them for regular wear or occasional purposes. Your monotony with the same old cotton prints can be broken with their chikankari collection, which is perfect for every season. Pair the chikankari kurtis with either their palazzos or keep it simple with solid coloured leggings.

M-World is a teeny-tiny shop on Landsdown but don't go by the size of it. And it is a paradise for the ladies looking for apparel at pocket-friendly rates. M-World stocks dresses, skirts, kurtis, gowns, lehengas, tops, sarees, jackets, crop tops, blouses, draped outfits and dupattas. You can find beautiful chikan embroidery on the kurtis, suits and dupattas. The average price of kurtis is around INR 500 and lehengas at about INR 4,000.

Tanu's Collection

Tanu's collection inside Dakshinapan has held on to this traditional art form of Lucknow and keep an array of chikankari products. Husband-wide duo Sutanuka and Tridip Dutta are owners of the store and they source their kurtis, sarees and suits in cotton and georgette from the rural artisans of Lucknow.

Lucknow Chikan Factory

This store on AJC Bose Road is one of the very few chikan-only stores in Kolkata, and they don't just retail, but wholesale too. So you can imagine the kind of variety in terms of the collection here. Try their kurtis in colours ranging from orange, blue, white, light yellow, red and pink, among others. You will have similar options when it comes to long dresses.
