Looking for somewhere to chow down on some seriously Bengali grub this New Year? We found a bunch of celebration special menus that you have to try.

Deshaj

Didn’t get a chance to do your annual Shantiniketan trip this winter? Deshaj Cafe will bring all the Shantiniketan vibes right here in Kolkata, For Poila Boishakh, they’re serving up Bengali-style thaalis. You get aam pora shorbot, luchi, begun bhaja, payesh and  narkel diye chholar dal or aloo dom or chicken kosha or kosha mangsho. The menu starts at just INR 150 so it’s a total steal deal.

Unlike most other places, all the dishes will be available till April 20 so you still have enough time to visit this quaint cafe even for a delayed new year meal!

Bohemian

Celebrations and unlimited food? Sounds like a plan! Poila Boishakh means pet pujo and the perfect way to do it is with this unlimited menu at Bohemian. For INR 1,499 all inclusive you can chow down on Vindaloo, Mutton pate, egg devil, crab curry and more. You can try the menu out on both April 14 and 15, for lunch or dinner.

JW Marriott

Not just lunch and dinner, JW is also offering a Poila Boishakh high tea with a range of chais and bhaajas to go with your  adda sessions. The lunch and dinner buffets will have a ton of Bengali classic dishes like kathaler chop, aloo posto, and good ol’ sukto. The highlight is going to be the live bhaaja stations. Taking our favourite street-style tele bhaaja to the next level, you can pick what you want fried and have it made right in front of you. It’s going to be a Shubho Noboborsho indeed.

Ozora

Celebratory dinner with a view? Ozora has you covered. The gorgeous rooftop bar is serving Poila Boishak special till April 16 and if you’re looking to dine somewhere where you can marvel at the Kolkata skyline while hogging on some seriously Bengali grub, you need to be here. Think of stuffing your face with Kosha Mangsho, Sorshe Padba, Chhanar Dalna and more while gawking at the city lights – sounds like a great way to start the new year.

Pour House

Salt Lake peeps, your fav local bar is serving up not just innovative cocktails but also fun fusion dishes. Stick to the classic Chingri Malai Curry or go for the Jeera Bata Fish Tikka or the Chicken Naba Barshho – we’re sure we’re not going to be disappointed. You have to wash it done with some of their creative cocktails {ask for one of the infused cocktails – we love the Danzon Martini!}.

Hola Cafe

If you want a more relaxed start to the new year, have a relqaxed afternoon at Southern Avenue’s cool new café – Hola. With really exciting Bengali dishes included in the menu to ring in the new year {mochar ghonto, kacha lonka murgi and – OMG mango season is almost here! – alphonso rosogolla}, this café is where we’re heading with the squad. Get your feed on April 14 {where you have to order ala carte} and the buffet on April 15.

We.Desi

Poila Boishakh means all you can eat buffets and We.Desi is giving us just that. With tons of Bengali fair like kumro puisakher chorchori and khasta dal parotta on the menu, we’re already drooling. Super bonus points: there’s going to be a live puchka counter! Hog on the buffet from April 13 to 15.

The Taj Bengal

Need to step up your celebrations? Make your way to the Taj Bengal for a classy new year. Start your meal with a glass of Gondoraj Lebur Ghol and go on to devour Doi Katla, Topshe Maach Fry and Potol er Dolma at the new all-day diner Cal 27. Go early so you can grab a seat overlooking the pool. The thalis are available on April 14 and 15. You have to choose between the niraamish, aamish and seafood thaalis.

Flurys

It wouldn’t be a celebration in Kolkata if Flurys wasn’t involved. The iconic bakery has all sorts of interesting goodies up for grabs. Pick up a Sorshe Macher Paturi Puff or Mocha Choper Puff Roll. If you’re looking for something sweet, you can’t miss the Nolen Gurer Cheesecake and Mihidana Gateaux. The good news is the Poila Boishak specials are available at all the outlets, all day till April 17.
