When such is the scene then you must definitely go feast on hundred years old heirloom hilsa recipes found from the pages of history of Bengal rajbaris, at the Royal Hilsa Menu festival at Eden Pavillion, ITC Sonar. Be there to enjoy two special recipes from each of the four Bengal rajbaris of Sovabazar, Cossimbazar, Moynagarh and Posta. Every dish promises to woo you with its delectable taste and transport you to the grand bygone time with the untold stories that it brings along. Try Moynagarh's Ilish Machcher Dum Pulao to go back in time and celebrate Raja Paramananda Bahubalindra's meeting with Emperor Jahangir. Or gorge on the lip smacking 261-year-old Sugandhi Ilish Bhapa that had enticed the taste buds of Raja Nabakrishna Deb. This aside, there's Doi Ilish (Posta), Ilish Macher Mol (Moynagarh), Ilish Rani Pasind (Cossimbazar) as well to choose from. A chef’s special menu includes Smoked Hilsa and Ilish Machher Jhol.

Make A Note

When you order, a platter will be served with steamed rice, aloo bhate (mashed potatoes), ilish bhaja tel, ilish machher dim bhaja, ilish machher matha diye chorchori and a piece of ilish bhaja. Apart from this platter, you get to choose only one main course from the rajbari menus.
