What Makes It Awesome

Refugee Handicrafts started off as a platform to market the products handcrafted by the poor and underprivileged weavers and artisans who were displaced during Partition. Today, after over 75 years of Independence, it continues to stock items made by displaced and distressed craftsmen to financially benefit and help them lead a sustainable life.

The shop stocks an exhaustive collection of home decor items, including centre pieces and vases made of terracotta and clay, showpieces made of dokra dedicated to gods and goddesses, wooden containers and figurines, showpieces made of sholapith, super cute dolls made of cotton, and decorative items made of cane and bamboo. The collection of cotton bedsheets and pillow covers is also quite unique in terms of design, pattern, prints, and colour.

Refugee Handicrafts also stocks a beautiful range of ceramic kitchenware including plates, bowls, casseroles, handi, baking dish, jars, and teapots. They also sell a limited range of sarees, jewellery and bags. We absolutely love the collection of jute bags as well as leather purses, pouches, and handbags. The pearl jewellery is ideal for functions and special occasions. But, if you’re looking for some out-of-the-box designs, go for the metal jewellery pieces they’ve got

The ceramic kitchenware starts at around INR 250 onwards while the jute bags are priced at INR 187 and upwards. The centrepieces start at around INR 200.

Pro-Tip

Refugee Handicrafts has two stores—one in Dover Terrace in Ballygunge and the other inside the Dakshinapan Shopping Complex (shop numbers 65/2 and 65/3).
