Vegan And Hungry? Visit These 5 Affordable Eateries

While it is easy to find vegetarian-friendly places all over Kolkata, uncovering food joints that serve vegan-friendly dishes is a bit challenging. That’s why we went ahead and scavenged the city to curate a list of vegan-friendly places to hit up with your friends next time you’re eating out. Added bonus? They’re quite affordable.

Country Roads

Classy interiors, plenty of space, a microbrewery and vegan options – sounds like the perfect place to bring in the weekend with your besties or family. Try their oven-grilled stuffed potatoes. There are plenty of traditional Indian dishes, too, including saag and dum aloo, which are rich in flavor.

Wabi Sabi

Not only is Wabi Sabi vegetarian-friendly, it’s vegan-friendly, too. Once you get past the store section, sit down for some pumpkin and rosemary soup, chickpea salad, asparagus on toast and don’t forget to try out their gupchup, which is basically puchkaas served with four types of paani.

Hakuna Matata

Next time you’re exploring Park Street, stop at Hakuna Matata for a bite — this eatery is actually one of the first places in Kolkata to add vegan-friendly options to their menu. Their manchurian vada paao, pita naan pakoda and guacamole puchkas are delicious, and you can also make your own pizza without cheese.

Cafe 4/1

Cafe 4/1 has a rather unique menu, which makes it one of our favorite places for vegan-friendly options. Their avocado soup has a tinge of bitter gourd, celery and leek cucumbers added. Their tomato soup also incorporates a bit of jasmine tea brew flavor and tabasco. And, their dimsum trilogy is a joy for anyone who loves momos and its variants. If you’re craving something desi, their naan pockets {stuffed with tandoori veggies} is also quite nice. If all fails, you could always settle for a portion of their organic khichdi.
