With love, from Banaras. Womenswear brand Silk Kothi specialises in banarasi silk (as one can guess from the name) sarees.
The brand has a presence of close to five decades in Banaras' handloom industry but now it also has an online presence in the form of a beautiful website, with an aim to promote Banarasi handwoven products worldwide. There is a section called 'silk tutorial' where we also learnt about the different kinds of silk fabrics (if at all you want to educate yourself on this subject), techniques and patterns.
The moment we started exploring the collection, we were simply left awestruck. All the possible silk fabrics are available with Silk Kothi, starting with katan, khaddi georgette, raw silk, organza, kora, tussar, chanderi, monga, tissue, dupion and linen silk. Want to shop something based on patterns or designs? You can filter the options and choose from borderless, buti, jaal, kadhwa, jangla, meenakari, shikargah and checks.
A turquoise blue chanderi (INR 6,975) with zari border and meena buta is perfect for family functions, and you can choose whether you want fall & pico or not. A pale green linen silk handwoven banarasi with golden motif and zari weaving can be a brilliant wedding gift to your bestie. Ladies, if you want to get your dream wedding day saree, the typical red katan silk banarasis are the ideal candidates.
