It's raining festivals in Kolkata but we have enough room for another new one! Songkron is the Thai new year celebration known popularly as the 'water festival' which extends for a couple of days. A lesser-known fact - parts of Northeastern states of India celebrate Songkran as well. Mae Kong, the oriental outlet at the Kenilworth Hotel, has curated a Songkran special full of Thai dishes in their ala-carte menu.
From Massaman Curry to Laab Koong, Celebrate Songkran At Mae Kong
What's Happening
How's The Venue
While Songkran might be new to our ears, Thai food holds an everlasting soft corner in our hearts (and tummies as well). The a la-carte menu will surprise you with dishes like Tom-Yum-Kai-Koong (traditional Thai spicy soup) , Laab-Koong (minced prawn salad with Thai herbs and crushed rice) and much more to kickstart your taste buds. We recommend trying Laab-Kai and Som-Tang-Koong. What really caught our eyes were the traditional curries like massaman and penang, special to new year celebrations in Thailand. They also have the regular Thai coconut curries. For dessert, nothing could be better than special jelled water chestnuts in coconut cream which will surely take you to the busy streets of Bangkok.
