Mabesha

Mabesha is very strategically located near Gariahat bus stop. Once you step in, you will find traditional cotton, banarasi silk, matka silk and tant sarees from Phulia, leaving you spoilt for choice. Mabesha is well known for their hand-embroidered sarees and those hand-painted sarees with mythological figures.

Priyo Gopal Bishoyi

When we hear this name, the famous 'Priyo Gopal Bishoyi' jingle rings in our ears! (heavy dose of nostalgia). A favourite among our grandmothers, this house is a big player. You will be stumped by their range of banarasi silks, south silks, taant, ikkat, baluchari and bomkai. But our personal favourite would be the Baluchari silk, perfect for weddings.

RMGC Basak

Basak is brimming like a pack of sardines, especially when it's Pujo time. There's a commotion all the time and it's a fish market. But you will get one of the finest range of Jamdani sarees and kantha stitch embroidered sarees here. And not just sarees, here you can explore their collection of scarves, stoles, shawls and fabrics in traditional Bengali patterns.

Kalika

A tiny shop opposite Triangular Park, it sits quietly among the tallest giants but Kalika is that dark horse which can be called a treasure trove for silk sarees. The range includes Assamese silk, Dhakai, Baluchari, Chanderi, Ghicha, Kosha and Bhagalpuri silk . Yes, it is an extensive range and if you wish to buy a tussar silk, it can range anywhere between INR 10,000 to INR 20,000.
