We came across this art studio while roaming around in Rashbehari and would totally recommend it if you're passionate about all things art.
Studio Artz is a quaint and peaceful place for budding artists to come and learn the trick of the trade and express themselves. Here, it's not just about learning. The students are also a part of small community of professionals and house wives who come here to follow their passion for art, away from the monotony and hustle bustle of life. Owner Smitha Sonthalia and resident artist and mentor Rabin Kumar Mandal have managed to create a beautiful space with a cosy and relaxed environment that helps students learn as well as have fun over unlimited chai and adda sessions with music playing at all times.
The kids learn pencil shading, crayons, pencil colors, oil pastels and acrylic painting. The adults learn pencil sketching, charcoal, soft pastels, water color, tempera, acrylic and mixed medium. They also teach clay modelling and other kinds of art and craft if that's what interests you. You'll get to learn dexterity with your hands and make lots of fun stuff like masks, greeting cards, hair pieces and jewellery using organic and sustainable materials like paper plates and cups, coloured paper along with accessories like googly eyes pipe cleaners, ice cream sticks, buttons and laces among other things.
Classes are held once a week for two hours and cost around INR 1,600 per month for adults and INR 1,200 for the little ones below 10 years of age. You'll have to pay a registration fees of INR 1,000 as well. Classes for kids are held on Mondays (3:30pm - 5:30pm) and Saturdays (11am - 1pm) and for adults on all days except Tuesdays and Fridays. Need an extra class? That'll set you back by INR 500 per class.
