What Makes It Awesome

Sometimes, it's okay to indulge in luxury every once in a while. So, if a trip to Darjeeling is on the cards, you should definitely plan a stay at Summit Swiss Heritage Hotel & Spa.

Say sayonara to the citiy life and dive right into the lap of hills and mountains. This premium hospitality brand is possibly the largest hotel chain covering the Himalayas with properties in north Bengal, all over Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Summit Swiss is located right next to Darjeeling Circuit House and very close to the Mall. In fact, you would enjoy the rather short walk to the Mall area.

Coming to the choice of rooms, there are deluxe, premium, suite, heritage suite and cottage rooms available, and the tariffs start from INR 2,975 (these may vary according to the season). Instead of numbers, the rooms have interesting names, such as Kabru, Pandim, Magnolia, Azalea and the likes.

The cottages look a lot like houses in rural Europe, especially ones in Swiss and Danish countrysides. I stayed at the Kabru cottage room which is humongously spacious, and also has a fireplace. But I very much liked the fact that the fireplace was closed in order to curb pollution. The room has a double entrance, which means on entering, a small area is segregated from the main bedroom, meant for keeping your luggage. The wooden ceiling and floors, room heaters, and bed warmers will make sure that you get respite from bone-chilling cold.

The hotel also has a luxury fine-dining called Alpina. If your breakfast is complimentary, you can enjoy a buffet spread in the morning. At the end of it all, you will leave Summit Swiss Hotel with a big smile on your face.

Pro-Tip

We would really suggest you get up early and have your breakfast or morning tea/coffee at the open-air tables laid out infront of the cottages, because the panoramic views are breathtaking.
