What Makes It Awesome

The daily 9 to 5 grind can be exhausting and monotonous. We all need a break from time to time. It’s always great to get away from the city and its chaos to somewhere quiet and peaceful. And, fortunately, we’ve found just the right place.

Say hello to Svanir, the coolest eco-friendly wilderness homestay located just outside of Bhubaneswar! If you're looking for a tranquil escape for the weekend, this is the place to be at, my friend. Nestled amidst lush green trees and forest, this cozy homestay features four awesome cottages that'll make you feel like you're staying in a traditional tribal village. The outer walls have a rustic mud-finish look created with special brush engravings. Best part? Each cottage comes with its own sit-out verandah and big windows offering breathtaking views.

You'll have all the privacy you need. It's perfect if you want a quiet spot to unwind after exploring nearby spots (the Mangalajodi Wetlands are just about an hour away from the ecostay). Plus, you'll be making a positive impact on the local community. Indrani and her family, who run the homestay, are all about supporting the local economy and preserving the traditional way of life. Their whole team consists of folks from the nearby village. Most of them are women along with a couple of dudes taking care of the garden.

Most important? The homestay is all about valuing and appreciating nature! Only 10% of the land has construction. The rest of it is filled with beautiful indigenous and fruit trees. It's like staying within a mini forest. Indrani wants the guests to feel the magic of nature and experience its healing powers. The homestay doesn’t have WiFi! She encourages guests to come out and interact with each other rather than remain hooked to their phones and laptops. She follows this cool concept called 'Miyawaki', which means planting more trees and creating a dense forest in a few years. And as a special gesture, she gives all the guests some plants that they can grow at home, no matter how small their space is. Because, hey, living in nature is the ultimate luxury!

But wait, there's more! Indrani believes that there is so much to explore in Bhubaneswar. The famous Lingaraja Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, is its heart and soul. Did you know that Bhubaneswar was once home to 7,000 temples? Yes. You read that right. Sadly, only about 200 of them remain, but they're still mind-blowing! The city is also home to a wildlife sanctuary as well as the Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves, where you'll find stunning Buddhist art and architecture.

So come on over to Svanir and experience the best of nature.
