Shortcut
Watch A Movie Here For INR 100
The Swabhumi Heritage Park situated off the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in Kolkata has become hot shopping destination and general hangout place for people living around Salt Lake. Modeled along the lines of a 19th century Bengal palace, the place has been divided into three sections – Sambhar {the urban courtyard}, Shilpagram {traditional zone} and Santushti {the food court}. Apart from these, there is an amphitheatre and digital movie theatre INOX {which is the cheapest multiplex in Kolkata to watch a movie at – tickets are usually priced at around INR 100}.
The place is open from 10 AM to 6 PM.
Stack Up On Junk Jewellery & Artsy Handicrafts
Swabhumi is dotted with stalls selling locally-made jewellery as well as handicrafts. Shopaholics can spend hours in Sambhar, browsing through the numerous handicraft stalls selling Madhubani and Gond paintings, terra-cotta goods, block printed fabrics, and ceramics. It has an Ayurvedic store too, and an export shop and shops selling Shahnaz Husain herbal products.
You can see crafts people at work in Shilpagram {it has four areas – Karigarer Haat, Meena Bazaar, a music courtyard and a space on astrology}. You can pick up custom-made jewellery, lampshades, handicrafts, at Meena Bazaar.
