Looking for a convenient, no-fuss way to take in the Pujos? Try the bus tours set up by West Bengal's tourism department. They are all value for money.

What Makes It Awesome

Every year, the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) lines up Pujo tours (or parikramas). But this year, they have taken it up a notch with the ‘hop hop service’ - essentially AC and non AC buses that will take you across different Pujo routes.

Some of them cover really interesting routes. For instance, try the Hooghly Safari Sharodutsav Tour - a full-day programme that will take you around the old pujos of Hooghly. You can check out rajbaris and temples such as the 105-year old puja at Surendra Nath Ghosh House or the 300-year-old pujo at Sheoraphuli rajbari’, the pujo at Ananta Basudev Temple in Hooghly and many more.

If you are low on time, try the Sanatani Sharodutsav Tour which is just four hours long but will take you through iconic, traditional pujos like Sovabazar Rajbari, Latu Babu Puja Chandra Bari, Rani Rashmoni Bari and Thanthania Dutta Bari. This tour in a non-AC bus (with breakfast and lunch) costs just INR 1,500. Totally worth it.

Pro Tip

Look out for the WBTDC heritage tram tours and ferry rides (especially during bishorjon or immersion) during Puo.
