You might walk past this store without even noticing it, but Tilottama near Sovabazar area stocks quite a range of kantha stitch apparel for women.

What Makes It Awesome

All the ladies can now get your hands on beautiful kantha stitch work. All you have to do is get down to Sovabajar-Sutanuti metro station and come out from the gate that opens onto the Aurobinda Sarani (erstwhile Grey Street)-Central Avenue crossing. Just walk a few steps from the petrol pump toward Hatibagan and you will spot Tilottama.

The store has a wide range of sarees, but they claim to specialise in kantha stitch sarees. The boutique might be one of the tiniest places but they certainly know how to use every inch of the space. They have a collection of handloom and khadi cotton clothes, more extensive than the silk collection.

We saw a black saree with cutwork which was gorgeous and was priced at INR 2,350. We also liked a certain blue kota saree with the typical chequered weave. Coming to the kantha work, they had a green handloom saree priced at INR 1,800. But if you want a premium kantha stitch, they displayed one pure Bangalore silk saree in black priced at INR 6,500 with more intricate and detailed kantha work done.

For trendy kurtis, check out their Rajasthani, kotki (from Odisha) and kantha works, which you can pair with their palazzos. The kurtis start from INR 750.

Pro-Tip

The store is usually open from Monday to Saturday, but after Independence Day it will be open on Sundays too, due to Durga Pujo!
