What Makes It Awesome

If you are visiting Tripura, one thing which you should not miss is the Rajbari National Park. Situated in the Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary, it is one of the lesser known national parks but the place is certainly worth a visit for its concentration of bison.

Wildlife enthusiasts and animal lovers are going to love this expedition. This is also a great place to visit for wildlife photographers. So make sure you are carrying enough ammo if you're going there for a good collection of photos. You will be able to spot various wild animals including the world-famous Indian Gaur, deer, golden langurs, pheasants, among others.

The Bison reserve was established in the Trishna sanctuary to protect the endangered species. The reserve's primary objective was to restore the natural living habitat of the Bison. It also helped in tightening laws which can protect them from poachers. The sanctuary has a lot many water bodies and rivulets present, which act as a source of water for the reserve. But all you need to do is just open your shoes, dip your feet in the water and just listen to the song of the trees and birds. Very few places can offer you such serenity.

The area is filled with herbs, shrubs, tree species, climbers etc. To be exact, there are 230 trees, 110 shrubs, 150 climbers and 400 herbs found in the sanctuary. This biodiversity is the result of four types of forests present in the sanctuary, namely Tropical semi-evergreen forest, east Himalayan lower Bhabar sal, moist mixed deciduous forest and Savannah woodland. Birdwatchers should keep their binoculars at hand all the time, for you can spot the White-breasted Kingfisher, Indian Black Drongo, Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Tailorbird, Jungle Myna, Hornbill and other such exquisite species.

Pro-Tip

You will get to avail jeep safaris and wildlife trips, which are held on a regular basis by the park. There is also a lake inside the park, where you can boat at nominal rates.
