Kolkata has got a one-of-its-kind boutique cloud kitchen. Named Upland Salt, the business runs from Salt Lake Sector V, near AE Block. Founded by two aspiring young minds Nishant Chhajer and Sharang Majumdar, both of them are IHM Mumbai graduates. Nishant had been heading the marketing department in a firm and Sharang has worked with St. Regis Mumbai.
Their project Upland Salt specialises in dimsums and wings (they sell 10 different kinds of wings). Nishant says they want to focus on and specialise in chicken wings, for which they run a kiosk downstairs on the driveway, and the kitchen is upstairs.
If you like your entrees, soups and salads done right, this cloud kitchen has really unique combinations to offer. Pick up a salad while on your way back from the gym, such as the spinach and mushroom salad, chicken sausage and spinach salad or sautéed vegetables with balsamic glaze. Have your butter garlic prawns with a twist, which comes with the fragrant Gondhoraj lebu (lemon) and pineapple salsa.
Vegetarians can take delight in pumpkin, asparagus and cheese dimsum or the shiitake mushroom and bok choy dimsum. For non-vegetarians, there are options such as prawn & spinach and pork & pineapple dimsum to meet your hunger cravings. Hardcore lovers of wings can try their peri peri wings, which are deep-fried in Panko breadcrumbs, and the hot & sweet honey chilli Panko-fried wings. Best way to enjoy them is to order from their choice of smoked onion puree, fiery chilli, sweet honey chilli and garlic aioli dips. Time to use those dips to perfection!
