It’s a play that has been painstakingly put together by the inmates of the Alipore Central Correctional Home and Alipore Women’s Correctional Home. The initiative is part of an ongoing art therapy session the inmates are encouraged to pursue.
Watch A Play By Inmates Of Alipore Correctional Homes
What Is It?
Tell Me More
The play is based on the 1956 American film {starring Marlon Brando} of the same name that had satirised the US occupation and Americanisation of the island of Okinawa following the end of World War II in 1945. Stagecraft, the organizers, say it is a tribute to the power of working together. Come and watch inmates and Correctional Services officials, and be transported to 1946 and the island of Okinawa, off the coast of Japan. Dialogues are in English and Japanese.
