What can be better than an evening of Swiss-cum-Bengali fusion music? Head on down to Akhra, Elgin Road to experience this magical, musical rendezvous.

What is it?

An evening of eclectic fusion music between Swiss artists Jopo and Ingeborg Poffet and Bengali performers at Akhra at Baitanik on Elgin Road.

Since its inception, Akhra has been an open platform for understanding heritage in the present-day context and providing a linkage between the rural, traditional culture and urban ways of life. An alternative cultural space, Akhra is an open and intimate location tucked away on Elgin Road.

Who Is It For?

Anyone with an interest in fusion music as well as first-time fusion music enthusiasts.

Why Should I Go?

Because the synthesis of the Swiss performers, Jopo and Ingeborg Poffet {known together as ‘Duo Fatale’} and the Bengali performers is going to be a musical treat you wouldn’t like to miss. Both members of Duo Fatale happen to be composers, teachers and producers as well as soloists for different projects.

The saxophone-and bassclarinet-player Jopo and his wife, the accordion-player and vocalist Ingeborg Poffet, founded Duo Fatale in 1989. Both are composers, living in Basel. They have performed at the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2016, and have won several awards.

Anything Else?

This event is absolutely free. Apart from the music, rural handicraft artists often showcase their pieces of excellence here. Check out their Facebook page for more details.
