What Makes It Awesome

Stay in a treehouse like the folks in Swiss Family Robinson at the Aambagan Riverside Treehouse Resort just two hours away from Kolkata.

A cluster of beautiful cosy houses that lie perched upon the Borassus tree (known as taal in Bengali). Located on the banks of the Dwarkeshwar River, the Aambagan Riverside Treehouse Resort is the perfect weekend escape surrounded by captivating scenery.

Aambagan, as its name suggests, is a resort nestled inside a mango orchard of the Pallishree Complex. About 90 km away from Kolkata, it is close to a 2-hour drive by car. Arambagh in Hoogly district, that houses this resort, is well connected by both rail and roads from the city. The tree houses here are equipped with all the basic amenities. We really love the furniture here — designed using cane, bamboo and wood. Meals served here are simple and deliciously Bengali complete with jhuri aloo bhaja, mochar ghonto, murgi/ kochi pnathar jhol, chutni, doi and mishti.

What can you do here apart from lounging around and generally chilling out? If you are a lover of flora and fauna (and mangoes!), your senses are in for a treat here. Each tree house is named after the different varieties of aam like Amrapalli, Himsagar, Golapkhus and Totapuri. Perched atop a tree with live branches running through the houses, you get a nice view of the river and its surroundings. A variety of potted flowers and saplings dot the approach to the resort. Colourfully-hued exotic birds chirp merrily in and around the living space. You will find different breeds of dogs lounging about too. Get binoculars and make sure you have a light travel bag with you to carry your essentials. Do some serious bird watching here as this place is a habitat to rare varieties of mynahs and cockatoos.

Pro-Tip

The resort offers activities like horse-riding, table tennis, basketball and badminton to make your stay even more exciting.
