Ten-Second Takeaway

Eco Park just inaugurated replicas of the 7 Wonders Of The World and you can see them for just INR 30 — winter weekend plans right here!

Around The World In 10 Minutes

Always wanted to travel and see the world’s greatest wonders? You can now do it right here in Kolkata in Eco Park. For just INR 30, you get entry to the whole world {quite literally}. After much discussion, and a lot of rejection, the seven chosen monuments you get to take pictures with are the Taj Mahal {the most obvious choice}, the Pyramids of Giza, The Great Wall Of China, Petra, Christ the Redeemer, the Colosseum and the Moai statues.

Cutting across almost all the continents, the replicas will save you the hassle of getting visas and spending a mountain of money just to get good Insta pictures.

All The Deetz

After the Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower, we now have 7 more replicas in the city. The most familiar beauty is the replica of the Taj Mahal. Made of fibre glass, the replica is about one-eighth of the original in Agra. Although not completely white like the stunner in Agra {the replica is more off-white}, the use of marble indoors lends to the authenticity. They’ve even created a water body in front of the replica so it reflects in the water {as it does so famously with the original}.

Another popular one is the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx replica. The pyramids stand at just forty feet and the inside walls are lined with Egyptian paintings to give it a more authentic feel. There’s even a stream running along the front to replicate the Nile.

A mini-version of the Great Wall of China runs 100m and is made of yellow sandstone. 600 eager Calcuttans can walk on the wall at any given point. Petra, the Colosseum, the Moai statues and Christ the Redeemer are other replicas you can see.

Anything Else?

Light and sound shows are in the works. You’ll have to enter through Gate 4 of Eco Park {if you’re coming from Salt Lake side it’s right at the corner where Eco Park ends}. Tickets cost just INR 30. The timings are same as at Eco Park —noon to 7.30pm. Don’t go on Mondays – they’re closed after the hectic weekends.
