As a smart city, Pune has never failed to impress us. It is taking to waterways to curb the traffic congestion faced by commuters.

According to Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways Incumbent, Pune might find a place in the National Waterways Project. 10 cities will be selected for the project, of which Pune might be included in the list if the local civic body and the State Government favour this development. The Mula and Mutha River have been chosen as the ideal waters for the waterways and dry ports to be built on. With a sharp rise in the automobile industry, Pune’s traffic situation is getting out of hand. 2017 saw the rise of e-buses and e-autos and there is also a possibility of introducing Metrino Pod Taxi Services at Laxmi Road, Pune. The government is leaving no stone unturned to make transportation services a boon for the commuters.
