Not Just Punjabi Food, Baba Ramdev Dhaba Is Also Known For Rajasthani Thalis
What Makes It Awesome?
When you typically imagine a dhaba, you think of highways, bamboo furniture, spicy Punjabi food laden with ghee or butter and the smell of charcoal. However, Baba Ramdev Dhaba in Nigdi is special in many more ways. Apart from Punjabi food, they serve authentic Rajasthani food. From dal baati to sweet churma, gatte ki sabji to Rajasthani kadhi, you'll be spoilt for choice. Not just that, they have an amazing range of Rajasthani thalis too.
Known as one of the best dhabas in the PCMC area, you can visit this place if you want to have a fulfilling meal without burning a hole in your pocket. Their signature Rajasthani thalis are Rajwadi thali and Badshahi thali. Both of them include four baatis, some dal, papad, onions, chaas, gulab jamun and gatte ki sabzi. The latter also additionally has baigan bharta, sev and churma. The baati and rotis are laden ghee, we recommend you try these thalis.
Other dishes like daal makhani, paneer gravies and other curries are available as well. Try their paneer lababdar and tava rotis. They have a yummy selection of parathas as well. You must try the kadhi khichdi, pot biryani and raita.
When eating there, make sure you club your meals with cold beverages such as chass or lassi. Their Ma Kanhaiya lassi is the best. The decor of the place is humble, and prices are affordable. In under INR 500, you and your gang can enjoy a wholesome dinner.
What Could Be Better?
The place tends to get crowded during weekends and the waiting time amounts up to an hour. I wish they could manage the crowd better and sort out parking issues.
One thing that this dhaba boasts of is its use of ghee. All the sweets are made in pure desi ghee.Whether it's the two types of churma (normal and dry fruits) or other sweets like gulab jamun and other mithai. You even have the choice to select between oil and ghee as their medium of cooking for the food you order.
