No one has ever seen a sunset they did not like. So it comes as no surprise that there are so many dedicated spots around the city to experience the magic of the sun setting into the horizon and filling the skies in the most vivid hues. Whether you're a nature lover who enjoys a good hike or prefers a dip in a lake as the sun sets, check out our list of the most Instagrammable sunset spots in Pune.

Vetal Tekdi

Vetal Tekdi is a 2600 ft high hillock in Kothrud famous for its gorgeous sunsets. The spot gets its name from the temple of Vetala on top of the hill surrounded by a variety of plants and bird species. Sometimes a walk through nature with your only by your side equals the perfect romance that you need for an evening. And once you are at the end of your walk, you get to see the sunset, and that too from the topmost point in the city. Once atop, you can look over Pashan on one side and SB road on the other while peeking at the entire stretch of Kothrud on the way.

Lohagad

If you wish to add adventure to your sunset view, head straight to Lohagad Fort. Located about 68 km from Pune, the fort stands tall at a staggering 3,450 ft above sea level and offers the most breathtaking sunset view you've ever seen. The trek is fairly simple, so take your time admiring the epic historical spot as you make your way to the top. We suggest you start at 4 PM to make it on time and find a great spot to set up. You can also bring your picnic basket with food, drinks, and a mat to sit on. Although, if you need to remember to bring any refreshments, there are many stalls at the foothill of the fort where you can grab a bite.

Mulshi Dam

Holding your bae while watching the sunset and swooning over nature! Plan a perfect romantic evening at Mulshi, which is around 70 km away from the city and will take you approximately an hour's drive. But it gets even better when you find waterfalls nearby to let the romance flow. Situated on the Mula River, the dam is not so far from Hinjewadi, so you can easily ride a bike or book a cab to the place. Though there aren't many eateries in the vicinity, you can always parcel food and enjoy it near the damn. Better still, you can enjoy a barbeque here if you wish to stay for a few hours. The best spot to watch the sun go down is at the lake viewpoint.

Taljai Tekdi

A lush green hill right at the centre of the city, Taljai Tekdi is yet another getaway for you to marvel at the beauty of the sunset, along with the beauty that nature has to offer. Developed as a park and wildlife reserve, Taljai Tekdi attracts many migratory birds, peacocks, and ducks. It's connected to a dense forest area with numerous pathways for trekking, walking, and witnessing the colourful sunset. You can visit the Taljai temple, relax by the pond, or set up your own picnic with food and drinks as the sun sets. The best way to reach this spot is by bike or car.

Khadakwasla Dam

Imagine the sun setting behind the clouds and dipping in the water while you hold hands with your love as water splatters against your feet. But wait, imagine you and your partner sharing roasted corn or fighting over the last kanda bhaji or pani puri in this setting. This picture-perfect Khadakwasla Dam, near Sinhagad Fort, makes a great spot to enjoy an unobstructed sunset view. Just 17 km from the city, you can take the bus to Sinhagad or hop on your bike to enjoy the scenic drive. But make sure you reach here before 6 PM to enjoy the offerings.

Dive Ghat

Around an hour and a half drive from Pune, Dive Ghat has been a popular hangout spot, especially for those who love their weekend-long drives and getaways. Drive 10 km ahead of Hadapsar, and you will reach this ghat region within an hour. The spot has a lot to offer if you're a nature enthusiast. Situated between Dive Ghat Valley, Mastani Lake is a good spot to relax, take pictures, and watch the sun go down.
