Tell Me More

All of the handicrafts are made by artisans who make it in the traditional styles that have been in their families for generations. One of their best selling pieces is the handwoven floor mat, priced extremely reasonably at INR 550 is part of the Mandur Weaving Tradition of West Bengal. Wall hangings are also made in several traditional styles, and can be yours starting from a very reasonable INR 90.

Made in the Manipuri Longiti tradition, glass pottery and cutlery are also part of Des Rangeela’s collection. You can add them to your collection for as little as INR 450, extending to INR 2000 if you’re looking for something slightly more higher end. The bamboo wind chime from Chattisgarh is also a favourite, it’s price ranging from INR 400 to INR 850 depending on the number of bells on the chime.

So, We're Saying...

The quirky store’s impressive collection aims to support the artisan’s income throughout the year and to prevent the ancient arts from dying out. Des Rangeela also hosts a variety of workshops so it’s customers can get a better understanding of the products you are buying. These workshops {like the one hosted on Maharashtra Day for example} are conducted by the artisans, who’s livelihood remains the focus. Still not convinced?

The non-for profit store is having an exhibition on October 3rd at Bal Gandharva in Deccan. All of their collection will be displayed, including some of their most unique items which includes a lamp made out of lauki {bottle gourd} which weighs less than a single handkerchief!
