Situated in Clover Hills Plaza on NIBM Road, Dikhawa Dhaba is a rooftop dhaba which is done up in vibrant colours and has a modern rustic touch to it. I simply loved the decor and couldn't decide between the variety of seating arrangements.
You can opt for the indoor seating which is regal yet rustic. With wooden furniture, chequered floor and chandeliers, you get the feel of a regal dining hall but the counters, bronze cutlery and furniture gives it a rustic feel. If you wish to enjoy a great city view, you can choose between three of the outdoor seatings, which are either on an elevated slab while other is slightly below it with erected swings as your seats.
Enough about the decor, now let's talk about the food. I had the classic Punjabi sweet lassi and the special 'achari' drink (which is not on the menu) but they make it on request. While lassi is a must-have when relishing Punjabi food, the achari drink is something you must try with your appetizers.
They have a lot a options for starters and shorbas. I tried the spicy tomato dhaniya shorba which was amazing. They also recommend the rajma shorba. I also ate the shakahari seekh kebabs to go with my shorba. From their chaat section, I gulped down the dahi bhalla.
Then came the main course and it is not the typical paneer preparation! It was lauki! No, don't make a face. The best thing about my meal was lauki mussalam which was a scooped out bottle guard with rich gravy. Along with that, I digged into the crispy khamiri roti and lasooni dal tadka on jeera rice.
Make a note that they also serve some Lucknowi and Rajasthani delicacies. The taste is very authentic and rich. Perfect for outings with friends and family, this vegetarian dhaba is always ready to serve you an excellent palate. Go, save yourself a long drive to the outskirts and enjoy the dhaba feels right in the city!
