Eat Sattvic Food & Stay At This Community-Style Farm In Karjat

What Makes It Awesome?

The Art Village is a 'creative space' and farm-stay for artists and non-artists, spread over 15 acres of farmland in Karjat. Structured in the form of 'luxury-cum-community' style living, there are 6 Earth Huts (with open-air bathrooms) that sleep around 4 people in each room.

The huts are traditionally adobe style - made with earthen walls, 'recycled wood frames', and thatched roofs made by female artisans from Bhuj. The Art Village has its own 'Earth Cafe' that serves sattvic meals, a country-style kitchen where you can also cook, an amphitheatre - where they sometimes screen old movies, and plenty of working and gallery space for creating and displaying art - from print-making to pottery, etc.

This close-knit community offers activities like bird-watching, walking/trekking, yoga, cycling, stargazing (from terrace of your Earth Hut - with telescopes), and of course - art workshops. There's also a small library, board games, and an inflatable kiddie-pool available. You can even book yourself a massage (on prior notice), go kayaking on their lake, or volunteer to lend a hand at their organic farm.

A 2 hour's drive away from Pune, we recommend you pay Art Village a visit with your squad. Art Village is child and pet-friendly, too.

What Could Be Better?

The Art Village has a strict cancellation policy, and they don't allow smoking in or around the property (because it's a fire hazard).

Pro-Tip

The Art Village has a sister-property nearby - a boutique farm-stay called Tooth Mountain Farms that is just as spectacular.
