Finish Everything On Your Plate & Get A Discount At This Thali Place In Sadashiv Peth

Shortcut

18 years young and still going strong, Durvankur Dining Hall in Sadashiv Peth quickly achieved cult status for it’s pure vegetarian, ‘assal Marathi jevan’.

Tell Me More

Popular among Punekars and the like, their authentic Maharashtrian thali has earned the {hotly-debated} status as one of the best in the city. There are three thali menus – one for the week {Monday to Saturday}, one for Sundays and public holidays, and the third for Ganesh Chaturthi.

A standard thali gets you three veggies, kadhi, dal-rice, dal-khichdi, chapati, bhakri, dahi wada, thalipeeth, papad, cucumber salad, and two sweets. The Sunday thali features puri and chapati, masala rice, dhokla, bhajjia, and three veggies, dahi wada, papad, salad, and two sweets.

Their Chaturthi menu is shorter and sweeter – serving aamti, special puran-poli and basundi, in addition to two veggies, masala rice, bhajji, salad, papad, dahi wada, papad, and dhokla. Service here is super quick, so don’t expect a leisurely dining experience – there are always people waiting to eat!

So, We're Saying...

Durvankur is always packed at lunch and dinner time, with people eagerly waiting in their reception area. Weekends are always house-full, and so it’s best to reach before 7:30pm if you want any chance of getting a seat. Each thali is priced at INR 300 for unlimited eats, and you can avail an additional INR 20 discount if you finish everything on your plate – which we think is a great initiative of theirs to discourage wasting. Go on an empty stomach – it’s simple, no-fuss no-muss food, but we hear it’s worth the hype.

Bookmark Durvankur for when Mango season starts – we hear their aamras is legendary {plus, it’s unlimited}!
