Lost recipes is trying to give the Punekars a taste of Banarasi food with some popular dishes as well as some never-heard ones. Take the Kashi Puri kachori for example. The quintessential street food in U.P. Or the Nimona Chawal which is a simple dish of rice and green peas curry, yet so flavourful. I managed to try the Banarasi thali as well, among which the dal-bati-chokha combination along with a Banarasi Kheer literally made my day! Among the snacks menu, I would highly recommend the Meetha gol gappa, Potato wheel and Fried fara (rice flour dumplings with a spicy filling) along with a refreshing kulhad ki chai.
Coming to the beverages and desserts, you can't leave this place without their authentic Banarasi Thandai and Laung Lata. The Laung lata has a sweet filling of mawa and chopped nuts, stuffed inside a dough ball, pinned with a clove (laung), deep-fried and dunked into sugar syrup. It is unlike anything I have ever tasted and one of these will leave you with a heavy stomach and the feeling of wanting more.
The place itself has wooden benches, books and games. The menu also has some amazing combos and dishes at reasonable prices.
