MIT College Khau Galli is a hub for all college students in and around the campus to relish on good food at affordable pricing. You'll find vada pav, burgers, pizza, dosa, desserts, hakka Chinese - you'll be spoilt for choice.
The newest entrant on the street is Frost and Feathers. Started by Akshay Gadekar, this is the first outlet in the city, with many more to come. Serving in-house frost shakes, burgers, pizzas, ice creams, sandwiches, mastanis, nuggets, they also make fresh and delicious vegetarian fast food. The price range too is apt for college kids.In terms of the ambience, the place can accommodate around 15 people. It’s very cutely decorated with balloons, pink wallpaper, Edison bulbs, colourful chairs and tables - making it is a pretty place to chill with your little gang over coffee and and quick bites.
We started with their cold coffee, and calling it delicious will be an understatement. It was thick, smoothly textured, rich flavour (a little on the sweeter side). It was indeed refreshing and we suggest you try their glacier cold coffee which is topped with chocolate mousse too.
The cheese chilli toast - minced garlic stuffing with melted cheddar cheese and chilli flakes - was flavourful and a cheesy treat on the plate. The grilled breads were fresh and crisped well. Their pahadi sandwich is another great bite; and has barbeque sauce, mayonnaise, tamarind and other homemade sauces and worth biting into, especially for its tangy flavour.
They specialise in pizzas and the only place in the khau galli to have a wood-fired oven. Coming in three sizes; de-light, grande and king, we tried their Indian farm, which is overloaded with bell peppers, mushrooms, black olives and fresh tomatoes. They're also generous with their cheese and the edges have a biscuity crisp on them, making every bite delicious.
Their burgers are equally admirable. We tasted their American burger, and we are all praises. Crisp lettuce, firm tomatoes, capsicum, cheddar cheese and pre-made patty is well assembled between the soft buns. Variety of sauces are added to this burger, each bite giving you a taste of a different sauce.
Can you imagine shots of dark chocolate? That too at just INR 70? It'll be crazy, won't it? If you are looking for one, you just can't miss their frost shots. They have chocolate shot and magic shot and both deserve to be tasted. We tried their chocolate shot, thick, densely flavoured with dark chocolate, topped with crushed chocolate and syrup.
Don’t forget to end your meals with a good, appetising desserts. Go for their seasonal, in-house ice-creams made from the choicest of ingredients or their mastanis! We bet you won't complain. All their ice-creams are priced INR 45 per scoop and mastanis start at INR 80.
