What Makes It Awesome

There is no better place than Dagdusheth to go. Dagdusheth is a place where history, culture, festival, and energy meet. This temple was built by a sweet maker, he started building this temple in the late 1800s and the construction finished in 1893. Currently, the temple is located in Budhwar Peth of Pune.
The temple is massive but apart from the temple during Ganesh Mahotsav, there are dozens and dozens of other stalls to visit. There are varieties of idols to see, the creativity of people to witness, lights to behold and so many other things to experience.
The construction of the temple is very simple; every process including prayers and aartis can be seen from outside, Jay and Vijay, the two sentinels made of marble catch the eye of all at the outset. The Ganpati idol inside the main Dagdusheth temple is 7.5 feet tall and 4 feet wide, the idol is covered with 8 kilos of gold. Astoundingly, the devotees who visit the temple give offerings of gold and money which make the god richer and richer with every offering.
The most beautiful thing to witness, however, is the market during Ganesh Chaturthi, there are people selling small parachute toys with lights, spinning toys with blue lights, brushes in different colours like red, green, blue, yellow all of it glows sheer imagination of this view of lights glowing everywhere and everyone around is energetic makes this place the best to visit in Pune during Ganesh Mahotsav.
If you are a sweet tooth you can have best sweets of Pune at Dagdusheth. Let’s not forget the person who constructed this temple. The sweet maker’s shop is still present, it is still the best place to get sweets from in Pune, and the shop is famously known as Kaka Halwai. Don’t forget to visit Kaka Halwai if you’re going Dagdusheth, enjoy Kaju Katli, Rass Malai, Son Papdi, Bhujia and so many other things.
