Pune's culinary landscape is a melting pot of flavours, offering everything from international cuisines to authentic regional dishes. Among the hidden gems in the city's food scene is Haryana Handi, with food so good that even North Indians approve.
Located in Viman Nagar, Haryana Handi is taking over Pune by a flavourful storm with authentic North Indian delicacies. From the outside, it looks like any run-of-the-mill eatery in the city, but the food here is unlike anything we have had before. One of the main reasons the food stands out is because of their use of spices. To recreate the taste and aroma of authentic North Indian treats, founders Sumit and Akhil bring all their spices all the way from the northern states. Whether it is the masala in chole, kachori, paratha, or chaat, each dish is cooked with authentic spices to match the original recipes.
At the top of our recommendation is Paneer Chole Bhature. At INR 120, the chole comes with two paneer stuffed bhaturas, green chutney, fried aloo, onions, and green chillies. Rich, aromatic, and spicy, the dish will transport you to the streets of Delhi. Another crowd favourite here is the Bedmi Puri. At INR 90, the street snack is prepared by filling the puris with urad dal ki pitthi and served with aloo curry garnished with green chutney and ginger. The crispy yet soft puris with the spicy gravy hits all the right notes. Chaat lovers should definitely try Desi Ghee Ki Aloo Tikki, priced at INR 65, Papdi Chaat at INR 50, and Dahi Bhalle at INR 80. All the items are served on pattal leaf plates to add another layer of authenticity.
