Ten-Second Takeaway

One of the city’s top-tier hotels, the J.W. Marriott on Senapati Bapat Road is a traveller – and foodie’s – dream destination. Whether you’re travelling for business or leisure – or just want to pop in to see what all the fuss is about; here are 5 reasons to visit the J.W. Marriott in Pune.

5-Star Luxury

The J.W. Marriott is a 5-star Luxury Hotel, – and when they say ‘luxury’, they actually mean it. Housing 372 rooms and 43 suites spread over 24 floors, this is the largest hotel of its kind in Pune. Right from plush pillow-top bedding, to marble bathrooms; a heated outdoor swimming pool, to stunning views of the city – it’s a perfect combination of luxury and comfort! The hotel is also a popular venue for business travellers, conventions, and weddings – owing to their dedicated 40,000 sq ft of venue space. Bonus points: there are even Marriott Certified Wedding Planners, who are trained to help you plan your perfect ‘big day’.

Paasha

One of the most scenic rooftop lounges in the city, Paasha on the 24th floor of the J.W. Marriott is super-popular among guests and visitors alike. The perfect location for a romantic sunset meal, or a celebratory occasion with family, rest assured that the food here – North Indian cuisine – is brilliant. We recommend trying their signature specials, like the Gucci subz shammi {a Kashmiri delicacy}, barrah kebab, raan sikandari, dal Paasha, and the zaffarani murgh biryani. Paasha is especially packed on weekends, so we suggest making a table reservation in advance.

Mi-A-Mi

As popular as its rooftop counterpart, Mi-A-Mi is the underground, vibrant nightclub at the J.W. Marriott. Open only on WednesdayFriday, and Saturday nights – they’re packed with revellers while top DJs spin their beats. Skip the food, splurge on their drinks – we suggest trying their signature concoctions if you’re feeling experimental. Club entry rules are strict, and they levy an entry charge – so check with them before you go.

Pune Baking Co.

Pune Baking Company – or as it is more fondly known, PBC – is a crowd favourite. Choose from their fresh juices and shakes, or sip on a hot cuppa tea or coffee from their menu. You can DIY your sandwich fillings and enjoy it toasted, and follow it up with one of their pretty confections from their selection on display. We like their Dutch Truffle cake, croissants, and DIY-sandwiches {we make it different every time}. Bonus points: they also house a small bookstore, run by Crossword – so while you have your cake and tea, pick up a book to keep yourself company!

The J.W. Food Truck

Yep, you read that right. The J.W. Marriott also has their own food truck, operational on Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Parked on the premises, just outside PBC, the food truck features a short selection of street-food favourites, done in the Marriott signature style, of course. Try their lasooni teekha chicken/paneer, pesto bhel, and baked gulab jamun. They’re not as cheap as your usual food trucks, but think it’s worth a try!

Anything Else?

The hotel also features a beauty and barber shop, Quan Spa, and other amenities. We love the fact that the nearest mall – The Pavillion – is just a few minutes’ walk behind the hotel, and houses stores like Vajor, Lifestyle, Forever21, DC Shoes, Forest Essentials, Hunkemoller, {and many more} as well as a food court, cafes, and restaurants.
