Weekend Goals: Stay In Cosy Tents & Learn Paragliding At This Adventure Club In Kamshet

What Is It?

Nirvana Adventures is a Kamshet-based professional paragliding school and flying club, active since 1997. They offer paragliding courses, rides and weekend flying trips for those who’d like to take to the air.

How Do I Get There?

Kamshet is located about 50km away from Pune, which will take you around 2hrs {or less}, by car. It’s close to Lonavala, and you will need your own mode of transport to get here {and return}. In case you need help arranging transport, the staff at Nirvana can help you make those arrangements. Detailed directions via Google Map are available on their website.

What Is Awesome?

Nirvana Adventures offers four courses to learn paragliding: a 2-day intro course {INR 12,000}, a 3-day taster course {INR 16,000}, an Elementary Pilot course {INR 20,000; which will teach you all the basics, under the guidance of an instructor}, and a Club Pilot course {which you can only take on completion of the Elementary Pilot course}. These packages include overnight stay, and meals at their own little resort – Native Place, as well as transport to-and-from their two flying sites. Once your booking is confirmed, they will provide you with detailed instructions on how to get there, and what to carry. Additional HD video and photo coverage of the flight can be arranged if you request them beforehand. We’re very taken with Native Place – their quaint little guest-house at Lake Vadavali. They offer three styles of accommodation: tents {INR 2500/person}, bunk-style dorms {INR 2500/person}, and comfortable double-rooms {between INR 6500 – 7500 per couple} here. It’s a beautiful property with scenic surroundings, and the cuisine served here is home-style Indian food {veg/non-veg}. A little birdie told us that on starry nights, they even set up a BBQ for everyone to enjoy!

Anything Else?

If you’re just looking to have a bit of fun, we suggest you try their Tandem Paragliding ride, which lasts about 10-12 minutes and will cost you INR 2500 on weekdays, and INR 3000 on weekends. Flying time depends on the climate and weather conditions, so it’s best to contact them in advance for bookings. Even if you’re not up for paragliding, you can still book a stay at Native Place for a quiet weekend away, in the lap of nature. We think this would make for an ideal summer vacation – learning a new skill while staying in an idyllic guest-house. They’re very popular among Mumbai and Pune adventurers, so get booking!
