Also known as Sonori Fort for the village that lies at its base, Malhargad Fort is located near Saswad. It is again a one and half hour drive from Pune. There are two temples here -- one for Lord Khandoba and one for Lord Mahadeva. The fort is small and makes for an ideal day trip. Bicycling, trekking and overnight camping are also popular activities here. It’s a bit isolated, so plan to go there in a large group. FYI, there is not much parking space, so we recommend parking at the base of the fort and walking to the top.
