Mayureshwar Wildlife Sanctuary

Mayureshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in Supe is home to hyenas and foxes, species of trees and birds. About a two-hour drive away, the sanctuary is the natural habitat of the Indian gazelle, so you are likely to spot them in abundance. You’ll also spot other birds like Indian Roller, Black-Winged Kite, Grey Hornbill, Grey Hornbill, Grey Partridges, Eurasian Collared Dove, White-throated Kingfisher, Ashy-Crowned Sparrow Lark, Shrike, Laughing Dove, Blue-Cheeked Bee-eater, Indian Silverbills, Eagle and Babblers

Rehekuri Blackbuck Sanctuary

You'll love Rehekuri Blackbuck Sanctuary, which is Maharashtra’s only blackbuck sanctuary. It’s also one of the only four in India. Located just outside Karjat is a dry deciduous scrub forest that’s called the Rehekuri Blackbuck Sanctuary and is home to the mighty Indian blackbuck. When the number of blackbucks, which is a species of antelopes, went down, the government decided to form a sanctuary. In the 1980s, the sanctuary was formed, 8kms away from Karjat with only 15 blackbucks. Today the numbers are 400. 

Shri Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga Wildlife Reserve

Heaven for foliage, Shri Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga Wildlife Reserve, is a favourite spot of Punekars. You will find a dense forest, sparkling waterfalls, hillocks and fauna at this sanctuary.
