Onam is a harvest festival, and one of the biggest and most celebrated events in Kerala {and by Malayalis around the world}. Traditionally, the festival is celebrated over several days with much grandeur and gusto, and of course – food. A sadhya is the typical feast served at this time – a vegetarian banquet served and eaten on a banana leaf – and can have about 24 – 28 dishes served in one sitting. From rice and side dishes, to savouries, pickles, and desserts, we highly recommend trying a traditional sadhya. Join in the festivities at The Orchid Hotel, Balewadi here or check out our picks for an Onam sadhya for every budget here.
