A traditional sadhya can have about 24 – 28 dishes served in one sitting; from rice and side dishes, to savouries, pickles, and desserts. Join in the festivities at these 6 places in Pune serving sadhya for Onam at every budget.

Dravida's Bistro

Dravidas Bistro will be serving their annual sadhya for both lunch and dinner, on the 3rd and 4th of September. It won’t be the full 27-dish feast, but it will feature classical favourites that you’d expect to see on a banana leaf, at INR 300 per person. Their regular vegetarian Keralite food is quite tasty, so we expect their sadhya will be delicious as well. If you’re keen, it’s better to make a booking in advance.

Kerala Fast Food

Kerala Fast Food in Khadki and Aundh are setting up a special outdoor mandap-style banquet area for Onam sadhya. Served on the traditional banana-leaf, it’s free seating on a first-come, first-serve basis on the 3rd and 4th of September. At INR 350 per head, it sounds like a sweet deal to us. The restaurant has advised people to visit their Khadki outlet for the feast, as they are expecting to be completely house-full at the Aundh location.

As for the menu, we hear they’ve got pazham puri- {Kerala banana fritters) and parippu vada {lentil patties} for starters; olan and avial puzhukal arri choru {traditional red rice} for mains; and an array of desserts, like parippu payasam, paal ada pradaman and pazham purungidu {steamed Kerala bananas glazed with honey} to finish the meal.
