Plough, Sow & Experience: Live The Rural Life At This Farm Near Satara

What Makes It Awesome?

Drive to Satara and get up close and personal with the village life. The Rural Door also known as Krushak Ashram is a farming activity based experience. About 15kms away from Satara, you can escape the city life and get your hands dirty.

You can tour the firm and get some knowledge about agricultural activities in India. Krushak Ashram uses modern technology for traditional methods of farming and you’ll also get a glimpse into the everyday life of a farmer.

And when you’re hungry, dig into a simple, homely Maharashtrian meal. You can sample the basics: pithla bhakri, aamti, thecha among other offerings.

There’s a lot you can do at the farm. You can play with clay and model some pots, take a ride around the farm in a bullock-cart, plough the field and even sow seeds. And by evening, you can watch the star-studded sky, which is a rare sight in the city.

The idea of the farm is to get city dwellers closer to the rural life and to make us aware of what all goes into bringing fresh vegetables to our forks.
