Famous for being the birthplace of Sambhaji, the son of Shivaji Maharaj, Purandar Fort is about 2 hours away from Pune by car. This architectural ruin is a masterpiece famous for its ancient temples, relics, and the Dilli Darwaza. It’s ideal for a one-day trip or trek, and the lush green views are spectacular. The fort is controlled by the Indian Army, so it is better to carry valid ID proof. Also, one can only enter between 9 AM and 2:30 PM and leave by 5 PM.
