You must have been to Lonavala a million times, but we bet you didn’t know about this lesser-known campsite near Amby Valley, where you can put up your tents by the lake, barbecue and jam through the night, under clear starry skies.
We Have A Secret Hidden Camping Spot & We're Revealing The Deets
What Is It?
How Do I Get There?
Getting to Salter Lake isn’t hard. It’s a smooth two-hour drive from Pune via Mumbai-Pune highway towards Amby Valley road, about 30 kilometres from Lonavala. For more details, click here.
What Is Unique About It?
Salter Lake is the kind of secluded, serene spot one might land up finding accidentally as opposed to spotting it on Google Maps. The only trace of population around the lake can be found a couple of kilometres away in a quaint village of not more than 100 – 200 residents. Hardly any permission is required to camp out here. Simply put up your tents, organise a barbecue feast at night and spend quality time with the gang.
Besides the picturesque lake view, you can laze around the camping area all day long; go for a quick dip into the waters or organise a short trek to Korigad Fort, about 20 minutes from Salter Lake. For food, we recommend you carry your own snacks and barbecue equipment albeit if you want to explore the local cuisine, we hear there are tons of small eateries and dhabas, about 40 minutes from the campsite, further into Lonavala.
Don't Leave The House Without...
